Packing for a trip can be stressful, especially when you have a limited amount of space for your clothes, shoes, toiletries, and accessories. However, packing for your next journey doesn’t have to be impossible, nor do you have to sacrifice style to fit everything in that bag. Travel light and dress to impress with these trendy yet realistic tips.

1. Layer On a Blazer

An oversized blazer is a must when traveling. This simple fashion piece can create a big statement and will go with practically any outfit. Create a more casual look by layering a blazer over a dress or romper or make a statement by pairing one with jeans and a t-shirt. Just make sure that the colors in all of these pieces complement each other or you’ll risk looking discombobulated.

2. Bring a Scarf

Scarves aren’t just for fall and winter, you know. Add a vintage, sophisticated touch to any outfit — during any season — with a silk scarf. Wrap one around your neck, over your hair or around your wrist for an instant style upgrade. You can even tie it over your chest to wear as a bandeau top. When you aren’t wearing your scarf, tie it around the straps of your purse or carry on to keep it handy.

3. Add a Belt

Aren’t sure whether a scarf suits your personality? Try adding a belt. Practically everyone looks good with a belt around their waist, regardless of what they pair it with. Define your waistline with a thick, thin, bold or subtle belt to match your shoes or play it safe and stick with neutral colors and materials. Bring one or two that will complement most — if not all — of your outfits.

4. Wear a Watch

Time is of the essence when you’re trying to catch a flight, but repeatedly taking your phone out to glance at the clock can increase your chances of accidentally leaving it somewhere. Keep your phone safe, be on time and accessorize by wearing a watch. Choose one with cute charms, braided straps or jewels to elevate your outfit. Alternatively, you can opt for something simple to keep things classy and elevate every outfit in your suitcase.

5. Pack a Bag

Whether you’re flying, driving or traveling by boat, odds are you’ll have some sort of purse or carry on with you. However, you don’t have to settle for a plain old purse. Accessorize with functional and stylish fanny packs, backpacks, shoulder slings and more. Just make sure yours is small enough to fit in an overhead bin if you plan to bring it on a plane.

6. Adorn Your Hair

Whatever your hair type or texture, clips, pins, barrettes and other accessories are trendy yet realistic ways to stay fashion forward while traveling. Keep your hair out of your face with a headband or stack a few bobby pins behind your ear to make a statement. You can even add a thin necklace or chain to the base of a ponytail or braid to create an instantly chic look.

Keep It Simple

When it comes to accessorizing on the go, it’s best to keep things simple. Only bring what you can actually see yourself wearing during your trip and try to choose items that can serve multiple purposes. After all, you only have so much space in your luggage for scarfs, jewelry and the like, so keep it simple!
